Senate votes to prevent new rules for worker safety

They really don't want any standards ...

Michigan would be barred from adopting rules aimed at reducing the number of workplace injuries caused by repetitive movements under a bill headed to Gov. Jennifer Granholm.

The Republican-controlled Senate on Tuesday voted 22-14 along party lines to approve the legislation. The measure is meant to keep the Granholm administration from requiring ergonomics standards in workplaces.

Republicans say rules should be voluntary and argue that mandatory rules would kill jobs and discourage companies from locating in Michigan. Democrats say ergonomics helps workers, along with businesses that save money by not having as many injured employees who need health care."   continued ...   (Via mlive)
