OSHA's Top 10 Features a Familiar Cast

Top 10 OSHA citations ...

"For the fifth year in a row, Scaffolds – General Requirements was far and away OSHA's most violated standard.

The agency in fiscal year 2006 cited employers for 9,012 violations of 1926.451, which details OSHA's scaffolding requirements for construction. Fiscal year 2006 ran from Oct. 1, 2005, through Sept. 30.

The rest of the top 10 most frequently cited OSHA standards includes a familiar ensemble of standards.

Hazard Communication (1910.1200) was second – just as it was last year – with 6,704 violations.

Fall Protection – Duty to Have Fall Protection (1926.501) for construction ranked third with 6,378 violations.

5. Lockout-Tagout (1910.147) – 3,659 violations

6. Powered Industrial Trucks (1910.178) – 3,080 violations

8. Machine Guarding – General Requirements (1910.212) – 2,749 violations

9. Ladders for construction (1926.1053) – 2,329 violations
